Confinement
Confinement.
✨
A word I rarely used until recently. Tonight, I went back to my dictionary to understand the etymology of this word and its original source. A lot can be understood when we know its source.
From « confinis »(latin): to restrict; to keep within bounds; to shut or keep in a limited space or area.
✨
Lately, with the added time I suddenly have, I think about my past days and there is one experience which continues to stick intensely in my heart & mind is: Gaza...(I lived few years in Jerusalem, working for the UN) and, humbly, I do not think I understood until today in my own flesh the meaning of this word, confinement.
✨
Millions across the world lived & currently live in a state of confinement, sadly.
No, this is not a political post but rather words for freedom & for resilience...
✨
Where do we find « freedom » when we have symbolic or physical walls around us, is my questioning these days?
And I have to draw experience from the most extreme « confinement » I came to witness in my life, and for sure, that was this place on the photo.
I was able to get in & out but each time as I was leaving, my heart would break in a feeling of abandonnent of people in such need of basic services.
How did they manage, how do they still manage I have still wonder.
There is so much to learn from zones of world where confinement is still a reality, mainly, sadly, in war zones. It seems that we are all understanding (a bit) in our own flesh what some may continue to experience.
✨
What helps resilience?
Where do we find freedom?
✨
Community.
Solidarity.
Faith.
In your body. In yourself.
✨
Those seem to be key ingredients to nurture during this phase (and beyond hopefully). How could we embody more those words in our daily lives?
✨
I want to say, as I truly do not know what is ahead: Let’s hold each other’s hand, to try to ride this wave of uncertainty and unknown ».
✨
Tomorrow Saturday at @yogaflamestudio - I would love to invite you to a zoom LIVE yoga practice (at 18:00) where we could expand a bit the boundaries of the Self, to find a bit of freedom & ease.
And there is no better journey that the one we do together.
Together, in solidarity, I rest. ✨🌷
